It would be good to know what concerns they have about the high school. Many having issues in the elementary and middle school may be tired of 'horseplay'. The paper states some crucial issues -- math and reading concerns. Maybe these are issues in the high school too? Same system.. Where is it written that the Selectmen don't have to follow the Town Ordinances?.. What happened to the campaign promise of 'more transparency and more town meetings' ? In my basic understanding of Easton's governance, the First Selectmen need to have a Town Meeting so that the town votes on this concern. I'm sure citizens who were provided all the proper information at such a meeting would be compassionate in handling this type of situation. There are so many new questions it begs: Can this individual live on his own? Why is there a 20 year tax delinquency--? Why is it being handled in this manner? View Comment

Sadly, the isn't much education in the education budget...its going to the administration. The only thing 'fixed' is the students... If the students continue to leave..does the budget stay the same? View Comment

Applaud the changes proposed by the state-- teachers and administrators (principals, supervisors, etc) all need to be evaluated... What happens after the evaluations are complete is what I'm interested in... we need an 'out' for poor performing adminstrators too--they are the ones guiding the teachers.. View Comment

Interesting pattern here and correlation to Easton education... /administrators/educators getting more, and the children getting less: math curriculum that has been researched as being less than effective, as well as poor reading and writing curriculum. As long as they don't want to live anywhere outside of Easton..status quo must be fine... View Comment

The school's elementary principal provided information that the wireless network is needed for the iPads the principals of the ele. and middle school's are asking for, while the math curriculum (as well as others)are in need of improvement...each child does need a great education--something that Easton is lacking; partially due to NCLB, partially due to administrators who think everything is fine.... The operative word in the article title is "could". Though there are many things that Easton's schools could get.. if a request of 'lamps for the SMART boards' was made, might citizens have made more of an effort to fund the request which would... " allow the teachers to offer interactive, engaging applications to practice skills, create art/music/writing, take virtual tours, and introduce new content in a digital manner. This device will allow us to reinforce the foundations in literacy and numeracy and promote critical thinking in active, dynamic lessons,” the two administrators wrote. Instead of reading about Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous “I Have a Dream Speech,” students can watch video footage of the event or read about the civil rights movement, all at the tips of their fingers while remaining in a classroom setting...... yes, achieve the request made in the article, yet not need a new 'toy'..just the lamps to fix the current SMART boards... What is wrong here? It is Christmas...and the 'wish list' made-- yet Easton is in need of fixing a broken education system, instead of spending $45,000 on new toys. Principals who would have realistically asked for the 'lamps' and, quite possibly, funding for additional SMART board training for teachers, would have reached their goal.. The educational foundation of the elementary school has eroded away--and the outdated/poorly managed curriculum is in great need of repair. Better curriculum--educational foundation, is what parents and residents need..not want.. It appears as though parents/residents have decided... additional toys are not needed in Easton schools..
