A New Canaan woman has been charged with lying to the police about a helicopter landing near her home Saturday. Police said emergency agencies responded to a 911 call Saturday at 9:30 a.m. of a helicopter crashing in the area of Beacon Hill Road. They said Janie T. Konidaris, 37, of 90 Beacon Hill Lane, initially told officers she had not seen a helicopter. Officers checked the area and found no evidence of a crash. When they returned later to speak with Konidaris, police said she told them that a helicopter had landed to to pick up her husband. The helicopter's pilot, Dale Hardy, 72, of Lee, N.H., was charged with operating the helicopter in an aircraft restricted area. Konidaris was charged with interfering with a police officer.

■ Rick Marshall Holifield, 40, of Ledge Avenue, has been arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Police said Holifield failed to make a Nov. 10 court appearance on a pair of motor vehicle charges. He was arrested on May 20 of charges of operating a motor vehicle under suspension and failure to return his license to the state Department of Motor Vehicles. Holifield's next court date is Nov. 30.

■ Police are investigating the theft of a computer and digital music players from a Whiffle Tree Lane home. Police said a 16-year-old girl reported that a MacBook computer, an iPod mini, an iPod Touch and an iPod Classic were taken sometime on Nov. 13. The girl had friends visiting in the evening and reported the items missing the next day.

■ Police are investigating the theft of a MacBook Pro computer from New Canaan High School. Police said someone took the computer, valued at $2,500, from a cabinet near the NCHS library. The laptop was last seen on Nov. 5.
